More professionals use Daylight Visualizer

An increased number of professionals from the field of architecture and engineering are using Daylight Visualizer in their projects. It permits them to establish a dialogue between their intentions for the architectural design and the actual daylighting performance; and it often results in more refined considerations with regard to the building form as well as the number of windows and their placement and dimensions. Please find an example from a real-life project below.

Examples : Daylight performance in VELUX Model Home 2020

Daylighting conditions in VELUX Model Home 2020 projects were evaluated with Daylight Visualizer and the daylight factor as performance indicator. The images below show examples of daylight factor simulations and luminance renderings from LichtAktiv Haus, a residential project in Germany.

The program was also used to generate photo-realistic luminance images, as shown in the example below from Sunlight House, a residential project in Austria.

Examples : Effects of Flat Roof Window products on daylighting performance

Daylight Visualizer was used to prepare a series of cases showing the effects of adding CVP/CFP Flat Roof Window products in residential and commercial projects.

Each case consits in a series of animations showing the course of sunlight in the interiors as well as plan views showing the light distribution, and photo-realistic images.

What's coming next?

This year we plan to offer Daylight Visualizer users continuous improvements in terms of features and functionalities. One of our main objectives is to achieve better support as regards daylight evaluation of buildings – and to include the methods and performance indicators included in recognized daylighting standard, as well as in the Active House specifications. Communication of results and the output viewer are expected to be largely improved.

In addition, we have planned new features that will make the Daylight Visualizer even more robust, such as a new rendering engine for complex daylighting systems and integrated support for VELUX Sun Tunnel products (light pipe).
